From 1831…until today
“MARKO” is a model agricultural cooperative established in 1831 by the inhabitants of Markopoulo. In 1914, “MARKO” put into operation its first winery and in 1917 its first bottling unit.
Today, the “MARKO” Cooperative Winery is a modern enterprise with two bottling units with a capacity of 60,000 bottles per day, stainless steel tanks, and a fully equipped laboratory that monitors the strict quality control of its products.
The Coop “MARKO” vinifies almost all the grapes of the Markopoulo region and produces from the ancient local variety “SAVVATIANO” a high-quality DRY WHITE WINE from the famous “RETSINA” of MARKOPOULO, a traditional white wine with a pine aroma, perfectly suited to Greek cuisine.
“MARKO” has an excellently organized distribution network throughout Greece and exports its products to Europe and the USA.
